You helped pick Jamaica for the wedding party, and now the weekend has to move. Half the group lands Friday afternoon, two people arrive after midnight, someone is bringing three suitcases, and everyone expects to get from the airport to the villa, from the villa to a beach day, and from dinner to a night out and back without a fuss. Bachelorette party Jamaica transportation is really a handful of small movements joined together, and one clear plan for all of them is easier than five taxis, a group chat and a lot of guesswork at 1 a.m. Once you know what an operator needs to hear, drafting that plan takes about an hour.
Why Does a Wedding Party in Jamaica Need One Transport Plan?
A wedding-party weekend has more moving parts than an ordinary holiday. Guests land at different times, the group changes size between Friday and Sunday, and the schedule runs from early flights to late dinners. If every person arranges their own ride, you end up with several taxis, separate airport arrivals and late-night returns nobody planned for.
A private vehicle with a driver cuts that coordination down. Travellers and organisers describe private drivers as useful for airport transfers, excursions, nightlife and trips with several stops, and they say a clearly agreed price before getting into the vehicle matters. The plan only works if you settle some basics first:
- Where you land and where you stay: The arrival airport and the accommodation area.
- Who is coming: Total passengers, including late arrivals and early departures.
- What they carry: Luggage volume.
- How the vehicle is used: Whether one vehicle stays with the group, or provides scheduled transfers.
- What the weekend includes: Day-trip stops, nightlife pickups and returns, and departure times.
At D-JARPS Transport Solutions we run our own vehicles and arrange transport anywhere in Jamaica as each trip needs it, with bookings taken by phone or through the website contact form. Our private charter service is a vehicle with a driver for your group, hired for the period you set.
Which Base Works Best for Airports, Outings and Nights Out?
Popular bases for a party weekend include Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, Kingston and the South Coast, and where you stay decides how much time the group spends on the road. The Jamaica Tourist Board publishes indicative distances and drive times that help you compare:
The tourism board also describes Dunn's River Falls as about one hour from Montego Bay, and the South Coast as a couple of hours from Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. These are estimates, not schedules. Traffic, weather, roadworks, event congestion, hotel access, stops and luggage loading can all stretch them. One traveller reported that a trip that normally takes 10 to 20 minutes took two hours during a big party weekend, which is a reminder to leave room around nights out.

Pick the base with the whole weekend in mind. If the group wants a beach day, a waterfall and a night out, look at where those sit relative to your villa or hotel, and avoid a plan that puts two long drives into one day.
How Do You Build the Weekend Around Flights, Luggage and Group Movements?
Write the weekend as four separate operating periods, each with its own pickup point and time.
Do not assume one departure time suits passengers on different flights. Build the departure plan person by person, then merge the ones that line up. For arrival day, the bigger question is luggage. Wedding-party bags are often large, with garment bags, shoes and gifts, so count pieces, not just people. A packing cube set keeps each guest's bag compact, and a luggage scale tells her whether the case she's bringing is the size the operator expects. For more on how bags and seats interact, our airport shuttle luggage guide covers it in detail, and group airport transfers explains how to handle ten or more people landing together.

Your written itinerary should show the date, passenger count, pickup address, flight number, destination, stops, pickup time, return time, waiting arrangement and an emergency contact.
What Does a Private Van or Minibus Charter Include?
A private charter in Jamaica is normally a vehicle with a driver for a set period or route, but what is included varies, and published listings show several models. One operator lists a van package with a driver, one tank of gas, taxes and airport pickup for specified areas, with a four-day minimum and a suggested 15 percent gratuity excluded. Another lists a van for 1 to 12 passengers and a bus for 13 to 25, each with a private driver, air conditioning and round-trip airport transfers, and the vehicle supplied with a full tank of fuel. A third lists a mini bus service at a rate per kilometre, and says nothing in its listing about fuel, tolls, waiting or gratuity.
The lesson from those examples is that "driver included" does not mean every cost is included. Ask which of these are in the price: fuel, tolls, parking, waiting, driver accommodation, overtime, taxes and gratuity.
If you are asking how many seats are in a minibus, the number depends on the operator. Published Jamaican examples run from 12 seats to 15 for vans, and 25 or more for buses, with one operator listing buses up to 30. A seat count and airport luggage space are two different questions. A vehicle sold as 25 seats may not carry 25 people plus airport luggage comfortably. One operator's own listing shows a 12-seat van carrying 8 passengers with luggage, or 12 without, and a 15-seat van carrying 10 with luggage or 15 without. Our guide to what size bus a group needs goes through this.
When people ask which is the best bus company in Jamaica to hire for a private hire day trip, there is no official national ranking. Check licensing, vehicle capacity, driver arrangements, itinerary flexibility, luggage space, cancellation terms and written pricing, then compare complete quotes.
What Changes the Cost of Group Transport in Jamaica?
The price of group transport follows the shape of the weekend. The items that move a quote are:

- People and bags: Passenger count, luggage volume and the number of vehicles.
- Vehicle: Type and seat capacity.
- Locations: Pickup and drop-off points, and airport or cruise-port collection.
- Distance and time: Total kilometres, number of days, hours booked per day and waiting time.
- Stops and hours: The number of stops, and night or early-morning work.
- How the vehicle is used: Whether it stays with the group.
- Pass-through costs: Fuel, tolls, parking and taxes.
- Driver arrangements: Accommodation or overnight costs, cancellation terms, special events and congestion, and availability.
Published examples show how different the models are. Each is one operator's own figure, from pages noted in 2026, and none is a market average or a D-JARPS price.
If you want the price for a 40 seater bus, there is no single Jamaican figure. A 40 seat charter depends on the route, hire duration, availability, driver arrangements, fuel, tolls, parking, waiting, stops, taxes and whether the vehicle stays with the group, so ask for a quote for your exact dates. Our guide to what changes the cost of a bus charter goes through the same items.
Tipping is discretionary. Travel 80 gives 10 to 15 percent of the fare as a customary guideline for private drivers, and one operator lists a suggested 15 percent gratuity separately from its package rates. These are published guidance figures, not a legal requirement, so check what is already included first.
How Do You Plan Airport Transfers and Nights Out Carefully?
Start with the airport. The Jamaica Constabulary Force advises travellers to use registered cab companies, tour operators and appropriate route taxis from airports. The Jamaica Constabulary Force crime prevention guidance also suggests noting a taxi's licence plate, colour and make, telling someone trusted when you board, and being cautious if a driver asks for a route diversion. With a prearranged vehicle, much of that is settled before anyone lands: you already know who is meeting the group and where.
For nights out, the Jamaica Tourist Board advises travelling in groups when you are unsure of an area, keeping possessions close and sharing your itinerary with friends or family. Turning that into a plan for a group night:
- Vehicle: Use the prearranged vehicle or an authorised transport provider.
- Meeting point: Use one clearly identified spot, and keep the group together at pickup and return.
- Valuables: Keep phones, wallets, passports and room keys secure.
- Driving: Do not allow an intoxicated person to drive.
- Return: Confirm the return vehicle before entering a venue.
- Contact: Keep the driver's number available, and call 119 in an emergency.
A power bank in the group bag helps here, since the driver's number only works if a phone has charge at 2 a.m. These are neutral measures and do not guarantee a risk-free night, but they take a lot of guesswork out of it. Also plan for people leaving at different times, and ask whether the driver waits, returns at a set time or runs more than one trip.
Which Jamaican Transport Rules Affect Your Booking?
The Transport Authority says people providing transport under a contractual arrangement should apply for a Contract Carriage licence, and that a PPV driver badge is required. Its 2025 contract-carriage requirement sheet lists vehicle registration, certificate of fitness, insurance and contractual documentation among the requirements. So, when you compare quotes, ask each operator whether the vehicle is licensed for contract carriage, and whether the driver's PPV badge is current. The Transport Authority FAQ is the place to read the licensing rules directly.

Capacity is the other rule worth knowing. The Transport Authority FAQ gives a five-person seating limit for one specific road-licence category, and that is not a limit for every contract carriage vehicle. Vehicle capacity therefore has to be confirmed against the vehicle's approved registration and licence, and a charter should be booked for seated passengers within that approved capacity. Do not plan on standing.
JUTC publishes sub-franchise information for coaster buses, minibuses and taxis, but that page concerns operating under a JUTC sub-franchise. If you are considering a JUTC charter for the group, ask JUTC directly. And because there is no single universal limit on driver hours for a private weekend charter in the sources, ask the operator how long the driver may work continuously, how breaks are handled, and whether a second driver or overnight accommodation is needed.
What Should the Written Confirmation Say?
Ask for a confirmation that names what is included and what is not. A line that says "all-inclusive transport" is not enough. The confirmation should cover:
- Who and when: Booking name, emergency contact, the date and exact pickup time.
- Where: The exact airport, villa, hotel, restaurant, attraction or nightlife pickup point.
- Flights: Flight numbers, plus how a delayed flight and a split arrival are handled.
- People and bags: Headcount per transfer, passenger capacity and luggage capacity, and whether capacity counts the driver.
- Itinerary: The full weekend plan and all planned stops, and whether the vehicle waits during activities.
- Hours and extras: The waiting-time allowance, the overtime charge, night and early-morning arrangements, and driver accommodation if the vehicle stays away from its base.
- Costs: Fuel, tolls, parking, taxes, entry fees and gratuity.
- Payment: Deposit amount and dates, balance due date, and payment method.
- If plans change: Cancellation, rescheduling, no-show, flight-delay and weather terms, plus what happens if the vehicle breaks down.
- Contacts: Contact details for the assigned driver or dispatcher.

Wrapping Up
One itinerary, written in four parts, is enough for an operator to quote the whole weekend. Cover arrival day, day outings, nights out and departure, ask for seats and luggage space as separate answers, and get inclusions and exclusions in writing.
Do that, and the maid of honour or best man spends the weekend with the group, not on the phone coordinating rides.
D-JARPS Transport Solutions runs its own vehicles and arranges private charters and special events anywhere in Jamaica as each trip needs it. We arrange trips by phone, from 6 AM to 10 PM every day, or through the trip request form. We go over the details with you, give the price and confirm the trip before the day, so send your draft itinerary through our contact page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best bus company in Jamaica to hire for a private hire day trip?
No official national ranking names one best company. Check licensing, vehicle capacity, driver arrangements, itinerary flexibility, luggage space, cancellation terms and written pricing, then compare complete quotes.
How many seats are in a minibus?
There is no single answer. Published Jamaican examples include vans for 12 or 15, a van for 1 to 12 passengers, buses for 13 to 25, and buses up to 30. Ask for passenger seats and luggage capacity separately.
How much is a 40 seater bus?
A 40 seat charter is priced for the particular trip, and it changes with route, hire duration, availability, driver arrangements, fuel, tolls, parking, waiting, stops and taxes. Request a written quote for your dates.
How much to tip a driver in Jamaica?
Tipping is discretionary. Travel 80 states that 10 to 15 percent of the fare is customary for private drivers. Check whether gratuity is already included first.
Should one vehicle stay with the group all weekend?
It depends on the plan. A vehicle that stays with the group can cost more because it cannot take other work while waiting, but it removes the coordination of separate rides.
What if flights arrive hours apart?
Give the operator every flight number and arrival time, and ask how split arrivals and delays are handled. A vehicle may need to wait or make more than one airport run.
